Brief History of SOOD’s
The origin of the Sood community, can be traced back to Amarkot, (today known as Umarkot) Sindh (a province within modern day Pakistan) from where Kshatriyas settled into Punjab after Qasim’s invasion of Sindh. In Punjab they established their own Gotras. Later on they further got divided into Pahari Sood’s and Maidani Sood’s. Pahari Sood were those who migrated further to the Mountains, to preserve their lifestyle from invaders. Whereas Maidani Sood’s continued to live in Plains of Punjab and are now known as Punjabi Sood’s.
